Insulated Concrete Form (ICF)

Product

The wood-cement insulating concrete form, widely used in Europe for decades, is the only wall system that combines the three essentials of insulation, thermal mass, and breathability to offer superior energy performance and healthy indoor air quality. In addition, it offers greater durability and lower-cost-of-ownership, including resistance to fire, mold, insects, and rot, and it is highly sound absorbent. Hundreds of buildings have been completed in all regions, including a 26-story Hilton hotel in Ontario, Canada.

The Company’s first product will be a 12” tall block made from 85% recycled wood and 15% Portland cement weighing approximately 40 lbs and easily handled by an individual on the job site. Blocks are dry-stacked, and the walls are completed with rebar and concrete. Standard sizes will be 10” and 12” wide blocks, 2 feet in length. Corner and end blocks make construction faster for the builder. Builders who have used other ICF systems will not require crew retraining to build with Healthy Buildings’ block.
